Brazil’s BRF unveils a sustainable grain purchase policy

Reuters reports that the decisions was listed in meeting minutes that were released on 19 August. The approval of the grain policy is in line with BRF’s 2030 Vision plan and a push for traceability in its supply chain that was announced in December 2020.

According to a document on BRF's sustainability commitments, the company proposed to guarantee the traceability of 100% of the grains purchased in the Amazon and Cerrado until 2025.

The grain policy of BRF, a major buyer of soy and corn, was unanimously approved and without any reservations, following a favorable recommendation from the People, Governance, Organization and Culture Committee and the Quality and Sustainability Committee of the company.

The meeting minutes did not provide any further details on implementation of the policy.
