Introduction to Kuroiler Chicken:
The Kuroiler is a hybrid chicken breed introduce by Vinod Kapur of Keggfarms Group in Gurgaon, Haryana. Kuroilers are a cross breed from broiler males with Rhode Island Red females, or, White Leghorn males crossed with female Rhode Island Reds.
The main advantages of this breed chicken is its laying capability, it is a good layer and it lays a lot of eggs (140 to 150) per year. The meat of Kuroiler chicken is very soft with a good taste, making it the best kienyenji bird for eggs and meat. The kurolier chickens are heavy feeders, this say that they are super-productive. Kuroiler chickens are insatiable they love scavenging in the fields.
This bird’s breed’s name is derived from the word BROILER, and then African Americanized to get the name KUROILER but we now see different variations of the same name; KROILER, CROILER, CUROILER, etc.
Origin of Kuroiler Chicken:
Kuroiler is a best of kienyenji chicken breed. It was initially introduced to Ugandans, and then to Kenyans. This chicken breed can survive anywhere in Kenya, including arid areas, Kuroiler has been spread round the world since 2009.
The breed is commonly seen in rural areas of India, like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. It is a house bird, where the women of India breed Kuroiler chicken as a full time or part time business
The Kienyeji chicken is the most preferred chicken for rearing in Kenya for its sweet, healthy meat and its yellow York egg. And this rearing is not that profitable, when it comes to income generation as its growth rate is very slow.
