$20 million-plus sale led by combines

$20 million-plus sale led by combines

Today, Matt Sullivan and the team at Sullivan Auctioneers are prepping for a four-day sale of vintage vehicles and memorabilia starting July 6, which in itself is no small event.

But that auction pales in comparison with a dealer dispersal sale they wrapped up this week which “was off the charts,” observes Sullivan of the recent Sinclair Tractor auction estimated to have topped $20 million. “We had over 1,200 register bidders from 47 states and seven different countries,” Sullivan adds. “And we had 197 actual buyers … which averages out to about one item sold per person (of the estimated 200 ‘good lots’ of equipment), which means a lot of farmers were participating.”

Sullivan Auctioneers (sullivanauctioneers.com) mark the Sinclair sale as a price trendsetter particularly when it came to combines. “There were 72 combines that sold in addition to numerous heads and platforms,” Sullivan points out. “They all sold strong … even combines that went toward the end of the auction.”

Price-leading bids were set right from the start when one of the early lots was a 2019 Deere S780 that sold for $325,000. That particular harvester sold with 357 separator hours, rear-wheel-drive, and a ProDrive transmission.

But it was 2018 model S780s that established market-high prices. Those prices included:

The sale had a large showing of two-year-old S680 harvesters (all with rear-wheel-drive and ProDrive trannys) as well, which brought from $281,000 to $288,000.

Sinclair’s dispersal also offered a wide variety of equipment including a line of horsepower. One of the surprises of the sale was $248,000 given for a five-year-old Deere 9620R with 1,690 hours, high-output hydraulics, 800/70R38 duals, and HydraCushion front axle.

Top prices given for other tractors included:
