Rosemary and pansy pot display

In this pretty container display we combine culinary herb rosemary with sweet flag and pretty spring pansies, to dramatic effect. The bright pink pot brings out the bold purple pansy flowers, while the grass and rosemary provide foliage interest. Keep the pot near your back door so you can quickly snip off a sprig of rosemary when you need it.

You Will Need

• Pansies
• Rosemary
• Sweet flag, Acorus gramineus
• Large pot or container
• Multi-purpose, peat-free compost
• Crocks
• Slow-release fertiliser

30 minutes

Step 1

Add crocks to the base of the pot to cover the drainage hole, and fill two-thirds with compost.

Step 2

Add slow fertiliser granules to the surface of the compost and mix them in with your hands.

Step 3

Plant the rosemary and sweet flag in the container first, firming them in well. Then squeeze the pansies into any gaps

Step 4

Water the container thoroughly and allow to drain, before moving it to its final position.
