It's
not recommended to plant quaking aspens in a pot. Here's why:
* Root System: Quaking aspens have very shallow, but extensive root systems that spread out horizontally. This makes them unsuitable for the confinement of a pot.
* Growth Habit: They are large, fast-growing trees that can reach heights of 50-80 feet. A pot will quickly become too small to accommodate their growth.
* Moisture Requirements: Aspens need consistently moist soil, but they are also susceptible to root rot. It can be difficult to maintain the right moisture level in a pot.
Instead of planting them in a pot, consider:
* Planting in the ground: This is the best option for quaking aspens, as it allows their root system to spread freely.
* Choosing a different tree: There are many other tree species that are well-suited for container gardening, such as dwarf varieties or smaller trees.
While it's possible to temporarily keep a young aspen sapling in a pot for a short period, it's unlikely to thrive long-term.
