How to Retrieve Hard-to-Reach Chicken Eggs
Maybe it's a spot in the far corner under the chicken coop, nestled deep among the thorns of a rose bush, or in some other creative, hard-to-reach place, but your hens insist on laying their eggs there! What's to be done? Well, you can channel your inner contortionist and wiggle in there to get them, just write the eggs off as a lost cause, or you can make a homemade egg grabber using little more than an empty 2-liter bottle and a broom handle.
Supplies
To craft your own handy egg-grabber, all you need is:
- an empty plastic 2-liter bottle
- a broom handle (or other long, straight stick you can use)
- strong tape
- a box knife or utility knife
- a marker and ruler to help cut straight, even lines

Step 1: Trace and Cut the Slits
Slits along the vertical length of the pop bottle will allow the plastic to flex and grab wayward eggs.
