We all know how difficult it can be to keep animals happy and healthy on the farm. Constant diligence and vigilance on their well-being is key, but here are a few other best practices that you will need to keep in mind on your hobby farm this summer:
- Don't crowd the animals: Of course, you want your livestock to be as comfortable as possible. This means not packing too many of them into a small area, where they will be uncomfortable and more likely to act up. There should be enough room on the farm to house your animals.
- Have a secure lock: There are all kinds of locks out there that you can use in order to keep a barn or pen secure. You want to be sure that you choose a model, such as a padlock, that will be able to hold the animals in place but also be easy for you to open when you need to access the space.
- Reduce shadows and noise: The livestock, especially cattle, will become confused and disoriented if they cannot see what is up ahead of them. To help reduce this issue, all you need to do is cut back on the shadows or noise they will be exposed to, as this can often disorient the animals.
