Who discovered planting rice?

It's impossible to pinpoint a single person who "discovered" planting rice. Rice cultivation is an ancient practice, dating back thousands of years. It likely developed independently in several different regions of the world.

Here's what we know:

* Origins: The earliest evidence of rice cultivation is found in the Yangtze River valley of China, dating back to around 10,000 years ago.

* Independent Development: Rice cultivation also developed independently in India and Southeast Asia.

* Domestication: Over time, people learned to cultivate rice from wild varieties, selecting for desirable traits like larger grains and faster growth.

* Evolution: Rice cultivation techniques have continued to evolve over centuries, with new varieties, irrigation systems, and planting methods developed in different regions.

So, while we don't know who first planted rice, we do know that it was a crucial development in human history, providing a stable source of food for billions of people across the globe.
