Orchids are often considered the epitome of luxury in the plant world. With their striking, long-lasting flowers floating above structural leaves, it’s easy to see why they are so popular for creating an impact in the home.
When considering which orchid to grow, moth orchids, or Phalaenopsis, are the easiest to keep flowering and care for. Mini moth orchids also make a versatile option and are easier to fit into small spaces such as on shelves or inside a terrarium.
Moth orchids, originally from Southeast Asia, are tolerant of a wide range of conditions in the home and make a great first orchid to start your collection. How you treat them during and after flowering is crucial to ensure the orchid will bloom again. They will grow well in bright light, and only require watering every couple of weeks. With a little bit of care, you’ll have a plant that will bloom again and again for years to come.
Here is our selection of Instagram highlights, featuring ever-increasing orchid collections and unusual miniature varieties. We’d love to see your orchid plant photos, so use #houseplantsgw when posting your house plant portraits and we’ll share our favourites on Instagram.
