What is Hydroponic farming?

It is the modern technology farming in which water and it’s nutrient levels in the water control plant growth and productivity. In other words, it’s soilless farming and growing crops on water. The word Hydroponics means “water-related” and this farming technology has become common in modern farming practices and has greater applications.

Water is enriched with well-balanced nutrients in hydroponic farming that are important for plant growth and improved yield. Within the specific range, water level PH will be maintained resulting in better growth and production. Plants take the nutrients from the water in this farming and use sunlight to produce the production. As we said it is soilless farming, in the absence of soil, one should make sure to replace the essential soil functions that must be given in water in water farming.

Support for the plant root system: a medium such as sand or gravel or plastic is generally used in the Hydroponic system to support the plant root system.

Supply of Nutrients: Nutrients are supplied from organic content in the soil-based farming system. Where, as in Hydroponic farming, fertilizers are added to the well-balanced water. The plants ‘ nutrients.

Supply of water: In soil-based farming, plants get the water from the soil to set up the root system in the soil where, as in hydroponic farming, water is supplied directly to the plants.

The above explains how to replace soil-based agriculture with water-based agriculture without affecting plant functions
